Lulu and the Tiniest Starflower
Lulu notices a small starflower's quiet signal and helps friends begin caring for it, one small step at a time.

Original fiction · Ages 7–10 · Read together with a guardian

Scene 01
The Smallest Signal
After the rain, Lulu saw one tiny starflower bowing its head beside a low stone. While everyone tended the big bed, Lulu sat quietly nearby.
“I do not think this flower is ready to speak yet,” Lulu said softly. The others slowed down when they saw Lulu listening so carefully.

Scene 02
A Flower Nearly Missed
“Maybe this flower is waiting too,” said Lulu. Lulu sat one step away instead of leaning over the bud.
A breeze made one leaf tremble. “It may need water and sunshine, but it may need quiet too,” Lulu said. Coco and Mimi came to look carefully.

Scene 03
A Blocked Little Channel
Leaves blocked a narrow water groove, so water swirled far from the flower instead of reaching its roots.
Lulu pointed with a small paw. “If we pull everything at once, the soil could tumble in,” Lulu said, and the friends began by checking the edges.

Scene 04
The Little Cup
Lulu could not carry the big watering can. Instead, Lulu carried just enough water in an acorn cup.
Lulu held the cup carefully in both front paws and took one slow step at a time. A small root did not need a flood; it needed a gentle drink.

Scene 05
Soil Beneath a Cape
A soft rain began again. Lulu kept the sky-blue cape on Lulu’s own shoulders and sat beside the bud rather than covering or pulling it.
“It is all right if you do not open today,” Lulu whispered. Lulu waited for the rain to pass and watched for even the smallest change.

Scene 06
Water Moving Slowly
Together the friends moved leaves aside one by one. Water travelled slowly toward the roots.
Lulu wanted to hop with joy, but watched a little longer to make sure the stream stayed gentle. Caring also means checking once more before saying a job is done.

Scene 07
The Next Day
The next morning, the bud opened just a little. Its tiny petals glimmered like a new star in the sky.
Lulu smiled from a respectful distance. “Did it notice me?” Lulu asked. The friends tilted their heads and smiled too.

Scene 08
Small Can Notice First
“Even small friends can notice first,” Lulu said. “It is enough that the flower looks comfortable; it does not have to know my name.”
Everyone agreed to look for small signals together. The tiny starflower swayed among the larger blooms like a bright little star in Heart Garden.
