Privacy Policy

1. Scope and operating principles

This policy applies to the public Haru Journal website and RSS feed. Haru Space accounts, groups, chats, and private support inquiries are governed by the separate Haru Space privacy policy.

Private group conversations, member data, account information, and unapproved documents are not copied into the public journal.

2. Information processed

• Essential delivery data that hosting and security providers may process, including IP address, browser type, request time, referrer, and error logs
• Optional pseudonymous metrics, including site and content identifiers, date, views, reactions, and a random browser visitor identifier
• Account details and inquiry text that a user submits through Haru Space private support
• After AdSense is enabled, cookies, IP address, device and browser information, and ad interactions processed by Google and advertising partners

3. Purposes

• Deliver static pages, images, and RSS
• Measure daily visits, story views, and reactions with reduced duplication
• Diagnose errors, limit abusive requests, and protect the service
• Handle correction, removal, rights, and privacy requests
• After AdSense is enabled, deliver, limit, and measure advertising

4. Optional pseudonymous metrics and retention

A random identifier is stored in local browser storage only when the visitor allows optional metrics. It does not directly identify a person, but it persists as a pseudonymous identifier and is not described as anonymous information. The server does not store the original identifier. It converts it to a keyed hash to reduce duplicate daily visits and views, and does not join journal metrics with Haru Space accounts or raw IP addresses.

The browser identifier remains until the visitor clears site data or changes the metrics choice. Daily hashes and reaction records are retained while the related metrics feature or content operates, then deleted or kept only in aggregate form when that purpose ends.

5. External processing and possible international transfers

These providers may operate servers outside the visitor's country and process information under their own terms and privacy safeguards. Advertising is enabled only after the required disclosures and consent management are ready.

• Vercel for website delivery, security, and operational logs
• Haru Space for the optional metrics API and authenticated private support
• Google for advertising, measurement, and consent management after AdSense is enabled

6. Visitor choices and rights

• Choose whether to allow optional metrics and delete the local identifier at any time.
• When the browser sends Do Not Track, new visits and story views are not recorded.
• Select the same reaction again to remove it.
• Use the private support route on the Contact page to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or review.

7. Children's privacy

Haru Journal does not require children to create accounts or submit personal information. Family stories avoid publishing names, schools, precise locations, schedules, faces, and other identifying details about children.

If advertising is ever served in a child-directed area, the applicable laws and Google's age-restricted advertising treatment will be applied separately.

8. Changes and questions

When processing or external services change, this page and its revision date will be updated before the change takes effect. Material changes may also be announced through the journal or Haru Space.
