Cookies and Advertising Notice
How local storage, optional visitor metrics, and future Google advertising technologies are used.
Last updated: July 31, 2026
Storage technologies currently used
Haru Journal does not use a login cookie. If optional metrics are allowed, a random visitor identifier and the metrics choice are stored in local browser storage. Using a reaction button may create an identifier needed to manage duplicate reactions.
Language selection and ordinary reading remain available without allowing metrics.
Optional metrics choice
- Essential only: do not create a new identifier and only retrieve public aggregate counts.
- Allow visitor metrics: use a pseudonymous random identifier to reduce duplicate daily visits and story views.
- Do Not Track: when the browser sends this signal, no new visits or views are recorded regardless of the saved choice.
When Google AdSense is enabled
When advertising is disabled, Haru Journal does not load Google ad scripts or ad slots. After approval and activation, Google and third-party advertising providers may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or device information for ad delivery, measurement, and frequency control.
Google and its partners may use prior visits to provide personalized advertising. Visitors can manage personalized ads in Google Ads Settings.
Regional consent
In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and other regions requiring prior consent, a Google-certified consent management platform will present the required choices. Personalized advertising storage will not be enabled before consent where consent is required.
Advertising placement principles
- Clearly distinguish and label advertising.
- Keep ads away from menus, navigation, card gestures, and reaction buttons.
- Begin with no more than two placements on a substantial story.
- Do not place ads in episode cards or fullscreen story cards.
